Common Support Questions

How do I add a new WordPress site to my dashboard?

Adding a new WordPress site to your WPOcto dashboard is simple. Log in to your account, click on "Add New Site" in the dashboard, and enter your WordPress site URL. Our system will guide you through installing our lightweight plugin on your WordPress site to establish a secure connection. Once connected, you'll have full access to manage your site from the WPOcto dashboard.

What should I do if I can't connect to my WordPress site?

If you're having trouble connecting to your WordPress site, please check the following:

  • Verify that the WPOcto plugin is installed and activated on your WordPress site
  • Check if your site is accessible and not in maintenance mode
  • Ensure your hosting provider allows external connections
  • Temporarily disable security plugins that might block our connection
  • Verify that your WordPress version is 5.0 or higher

If you've checked all these items and still can't connect, please contact our support team with details about your hosting environment and any error messages you're seeing.

How do backups work and how can I restore my site?

Our backup system automatically creates secure, incremental backups of your WordPress sites on a schedule you define. Each backup includes your database, files, themes, plugins, and uploads. To restore a backup:

  1. Go to the Backups tab for your site in the dashboard
  2. Select the backup point you want to restore from
  3. Click "Restore" and choose what you want to restore (files, database, or both)
  4. Confirm the restoration

The system will then restore your site to the selected backup point. For large sites, this process may take several minutes to complete.

How do I update plugins, themes, and WordPress core?

Updating your WordPress sites is simple with WPOcto:

  • For individual site updates: Navigate to the site in your dashboard, go to the Updates tab, and select the plugins, themes, or core updates you want to apply.
  • For bulk updates across multiple sites: Go to the Bulk Actions section, select the sites you want to update, choose the update type (plugins, themes, or core), and apply the updates.

Our system automatically creates a backup before applying updates, so you can easily roll back if any issues occur after updating.

What security features does WPOcto provide?

WPOcto includes comprehensive security features to protect your WordPress sites:

  • Malware scanning: Regular automated scans to detect malicious code
  • Vulnerability detection: Identifies vulnerable plugins and themes that need updates
  • File integrity monitoring: Detects unauthorized changes to core WordPress files
  • Login protection: Monitors and limits failed login attempts
  • Security headers: Implements recommended security headers
  • SSL certificate monitoring: Alerts you about expiring SSL certificates

You can view security reports for each site in the Security tab of your dashboard, and you'll receive alerts if any security issues are detected.
