AI assistants
Connect an AI assistant to read your workspace and ask your sites questions.
Available to administrators.
What an AI assistant can do
After a workspace administrator switches access on, an AI assistant can read the state of your sites, backups, updates, monitors and logs. It can also ask a site a question live. It cannot change a site in this release.
Switch access on
Go to Settings → AI assistants, switch access on and choose one of these presets:
- Read only — reads information that WP Octo already holds and never touches a site.
- Read and ask the site — adds live, read-only questions to a site.
- Read, ask and run safe operations — adds operations that WP Octo can undo, with your confirmation.
- Operator — gives the assistant the broadest available access.
The preset sets the maximum access the assistant receives. This release does not let an assistant change a site.
Connect an assistant
- ChatGPT: At chatgpt.com, go to Settings → Connectors, add the URL shown on the AI assistants page, sign in to WP Octo and approve access.
- claude.ai: Go to Settings → Connectors, add a custom connector with the same URL, sign in to WP Octo and approve access.
- Claude Desktop and Claude Code: Use the same URL, or create a workspace API key under Workspace settings.
What an assistant never gets
An assistant never receives passwords, keys or other credentials. It does not receive personal data unless a workspace administrator allows it.
Review activity
The activity list on the AI assistants settings page shows what an assistant did.
Withdraw access
Switch AI assistant access off, or revoke the workspace API key used by the assistant.
